In sum, Florida's schools and students have received more than $36 billion in lottery funding, including more than $5 billion used to send nearly 900,000 students to college on Bright Futures Scholarships funded by the Florida Lottery. How much does FL tax lottery winnings?

The Florida Lottery is required to withhold a percentage of winnings for many lottery prizes for Federal Tax purposes. U.S. citizens who win prizes of $5,000 or greater are taxed 24%. U.S. citizens without a SSN who win prizes of $600 or more are taxed 24%. The Federal Tax withholding for non-U.S. citizens or non-residents is 30% on all prizes.
